Warrior

This is our first guest post, written by Dan Johnson! You can find his prayer thread on YWP NaNoWriMo and his bio here. Many thanks to Dan for his contribution to both this blog and the world.

Greetings, my fellow people. My fellow warriors in the ongoing battle of life, struggling through difficult situations, battling our way through, hoping to find a peaceful and joyful moment in the midst of chaos. We are all in this battle, I assure you. We are all trying to do our best to stay strong.
Perhaps some of you are growing weak. You would like to give up and lay down. At some point, everyone feels like doing that. We all grow weary and desire to give up. But I urge you, do not give in! Do not give up! Stay strong, and lift up your head! Overcome the enemies of sadness, loneliness, anger, and all the rest. Do not be overwhelmed by your problems, for they can be defeated. You can stand strong in your life, standing back up when the problems of life knock you down. You must continue facing your enemies with every bit of strength you have. No matter what comes at you, stand right back up. To give up and lay down would be a great loss to your fellow warriors, and would certainly not be honorable. We all need you on your feet, to help us through this. We need to stay together to get through this war.
But perhaps you are strong. Perhaps you have defeated your present enemies. What does a warrior do when (s)he is no longer fighting in battle? They go seek out another opponent. For those of you who are still strong, help those around you. Don’t let a bit of your strength go to waste. Help your fellow warriors who are struggling with their problems. Because that’s what we’re trying to do. That’s what our main focus should be: to help others, and to do everything within our power to make this world a better place. None of us should ever stand alone. Reach out to others, for that’s the only way we can win this battle. We must lift each other up, and stay strong.
Maybe you know someone who needs help. Who is struggling with their problems. You can help them, whether it be to help them study homework, or simply being with them, or just smiling at them. Or, maybe you are that person. Maybe you are going through problems and facing struggles in your life. If you are, remember to stay strong. Remember, you’re not alone. We are here for you. We must face this war together. Don’t give up, no matter what. Keep going.

Rose

 Written by Charlie (poetrygirl68)

A single Rose sprouted among the dirt
Look at how it grew
All the rain that tried to wash it away
The wind that almost pulled the roots
The battles it won and fought to survive
The Rose's friends sadly lost
Mother Nature beat them down
The world clawed and scratched at the Rose
It struggled to survive but in the end,
It made it
How easy it would've been to let go
But the Rose never backed down
Now it can see all the pretty trees
Now it can breathe in the fresh air
Now it can be proud for hanging on
Never give in
Don't give up
Remember that you can be like the Rose
Remember that you are the Rose if you hang on tight
Nothing can ever beat you down
There are no reasons to give up
In the end you will be a strong soldier
You will be a strong little rose
Stand up when others thought you'd give up
You have so much worth living for
Stand up
Now

We’re all terminal but that shouldn’t stop us from doing great things. Even just a smile can help someone. Remember that you are the rose and you’re amazing.

Napping (Parody of "Happy")

It might seem lazy what I'm about to do
But I'm tired, and I need a break
I'm like a guy that never ate
Anything, like all day
Uh
Because I'm napping
Snore along if you feel like sleeping is the thing to do
Because I'm napping
Snore along if you feel like sleepiness is the truth
Because I'm napping
Snore along if you know what resting is to you
Because I'm napping
Snore along if you don't want to have anything to do

Here you come, into my room, yeah
Saying "Get up, blah blah blah..."
Well I should probably warn you I'll just sleep, yeah
No offense to you, I'm just tired
Here's why
Wake me up
Can't do it
Wake me up
I'm too tired
Wake me up
Can't do it
I snored (let me sleep now)
Wake me up
Can't do it
Wake me up
I'm too tired
Wake me up
Can't do it
I said
Because I'm napping
Snore along if you feel like sleeping is the thing to do
Because I'm napping
Snore along if you feel like sleepiness is the truth
Because I'm napping
Snore along if you know what resting is to you
Because I'm napping
Snore along if you don't want to have anything to do
Because I'm napping
Snore along if you feel like sleeping is the thing to do
Because I'm napping
Snore along if you feel like sleepiness is the truth
Because I'm napping

Same Broken Bones

Written by Charlie (poetrygirl68)

We're all a little broken
We're all more than imperfect
We're all under a spell
We're all so unsatisfied
We're all a forgotten memory
We're all just stories
We're all scared and helpless
We're all tired of feeling worthless
We're all sad and happy
We're all lost and confused by everything
We're all pushing out way through
We're all looking for something better
We're all the same really
We're all living in the same sad reality

We’re all so imperfect but our imperfections is exactly what makes us perfect. Don’t beat yourself up because of your flaws. It’s okay to have them because we all do. If we didn’t I don’t think we’d all be very interesting.

Fixing the Broken Memories

 Written by Charlie (poetrygirl68)

Seconds turn to minutes
Minutes turn to hours
Hours turn to days
Days turn into a lifetime
Of things I'd never say
Often do I feel
That I am never brave
Strange what people say
Or maybe it's how we hear
We never truly believe
The good that comes to our ears
But darkened thoughts haunt our heads
Echoes in our minds
If we'd let the light shine
And all the darkness fade
I know there could be a better way
There is just so little time
My heart will always beat
As long as I may breathe
There's a reason that I'm here
Or that is what I'm told
That my life has better meaning
My pulse recites a purpose
From there is the unknown
If life wasn't a mystery
Maybe it wouldn't be so cruel
Or if we knew why things happen
If there was something like a plan
Day by day I never see
What's right there in front of me
Quicksand drags me under
With no supervising eyes
My head is now pulled under
Screaming into an absent night
Angel wings sprout
From the middle of my back
These wings allow great flight
But they are broken with an axe
So now I pick up all these feathers
And I shall try to glue them back
Seconds turn to minutes
Minutes turn to hours
Hours turn to days
Days turn into a lifetime
Of things I'd never say
Often do I feel
That I am never brave
Strange what people say
Or maybe it's how we hear
We never truly believe
The good that comes to our ears
But darkened thoughts haunt our heads
Echoes in our minds
If we'd let the light shine
And all the darkness fade
I know there could be a better way
There is just so little time
My heart will always beat
As long as I may breathe
There's a reason that I'm here
Or that is what I'm told
That my life has better meaning
My pulse recites a purpose
From there is the unknown
If life wasn't a mystery
Maybe it wouldn't be so cruel
Or if we knew why things happen
If there was something like a plan
Day by day I never see

But they are broken with an axe
So now I pick up all these feathers
And I shall try to glue them back

I wrote this poem when thinking about the world and how we can let that perfect moment slip away. The time we didn’t kiss the person we love. The time we didn’t say goodbye to our sick loved one. The time we didn’t say, “I’m sorry,”
I also wrote it thinking of how we so often don’t see how amazing we are. We often don’t go through hard times and realize, “Wow, I handled that situation well.” You have to realize that you’re stronger than you may believe. Listen to the compliments people give you. It will severe you well in life.
